The case Arzoumanian v. Munchener Ruckversicherungs-Gesellschaft Aktiengesellschaft AG (“Munich Re”) concerns Armenian American claims for life insurance policies their family members bought before the Armenian Genocide, but were never paid out by the German insurance company. It has had a long and complex history dating back nearly ten years, including three separate and conflicting opinions from the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals before plaintiffs filed their petition to the Supreme Court in June 2012.
