Grassroots Capitol Campaign

April 22-24, 2009
Washington, DC

Hosted by the
Armenian National Committee of America
and the Genocide Intervention Network

Genocide Intervention Network

Fight the cycle of genocide by being part of the third annual ANCA / Genocide Intervention Network grassroots advocacy campaign in Washington DC from April 22nd-24th .

Join us on the morning of Wednesday, April 22nd for a special breakfast briefing, and then take part – along with genocide prevention activists from across the country - in three full days of Congressional visits to demand U.S. action against the genocide in Darfur and in support of the adoption of the Armenian Genocide Resolution.

  • Call for proper U.S. recognition of the Armenian Genocide by the
    Administration and Congress
  • Demand decisive U.S. action to stop the brutal genocide in Sudan
  • Fight state-sponsored genocide denial

This year, the advocacy days coincide with the Congressional Observance of the Armenian Genocide, to be held on Capitol Hill on April 22nd. The annual event is organized by the Congressional Armenian Caucus with the support of Armenian American organizations. On April 24th, participants will be invited to join Greater Washington DC area human rights activists calling on the Turkish government to end its 90 year denial of the Armenian Genocide, during the annual protest at the Turkish Embassy, organized by the Armenian Youth Federation.

Those interested in staying in Washington, DC for the weekend are also invited to attend the presentation of "Georgetown Boys", to be held at the Kennedy Center on Saturday evening, April 25th.

The End the Cycle of Genocide Grassroots Capitol Campaign is part of the anti-genocide events organized throughout the U.S. and around the world during Genocide Prevention Month. To find out about anti-genocide events in your area, visit www.genocidepreventionmonth.org.
